The Great Barrington Farmers' Market at 18 Church Street has three Saturdays left this season: October 31, November 7 and November 14. It has run every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. since May 9. After the 14th, Saturday morning groceries still exist in town, but you'll find them on a different street in a different village, and only one weekend a month.
Most of a Great Barrington winter follows from that change in schedule. Through the summer and fall, a Saturday could be built on habit. From mid-November through April, you build it from a calendar, and the dates are worth knowing now.
The outdoor market's printed season runs from May 9 to November 14, 2026. November 14 is the last weekly market of the year, so the Saturday before Thanksgiving week is your last chance to stock up downtown before the winter schedule starts.
A practical note for the last few visits: the market's own page says "service animals only please, no pets." If the dog usually comes along on Saturday errands, plan the walk for after you shop.
That same Saturday, November 14, Cowboy Junkies are on the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center calendar. The last morning market and a Saturday night show at the Mahaiwe fall on the same day, which is a tidy way to close out the season.
The following Saturday, the market moves indoors and becomes a once-a-month event. Berkshire Grown's winter farmers markets meet at the Housy Dome in the Housatonic Community Center, 1064 Main Street, Housatonic, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The 2026–2027 dates are:
That's six markets over five months, compared with a market every Saturday at Church Street. The hours change too. The Housy Dome opens an hour later, at 10 a.m., and closes at the same 1 p.m. as the summer market. If your Saturday routine started at 9 sharp downtown, you get an extra hour at home before the drive to Housatonic.
Because the market now comes once a month, each visit has to cover a month of shopping. Missing November 21 means waiting until December 19 for the next one, and missing that means waiting until mid-January. The dates are worth writing on the fridge now.
The most recent vendor roster Berkshire Grown has posted is for the April 18, 2026 market. It carries the organizer's own note that "this list is subject to change." Treat it as a guide to the kind of market this is, not a promise of who will be there in November. The spring lineup included:
| Category | Vendors on the April 2026 roster |
|---|---|
| Produce | Indian Line Farm, Common Hands Farm, Maynard Farms & Orchards, Markristo Farm, Tivoli Mushrooms |
| Breads and baked goods | Berkshire Mountain Bakery, Great Cape Baking, Pastries by Hanna |
| Meat, dairy and eggs | Cricket Creek Farm, High Lawn Farm, Jacuterie, Lila's Mountain Farm, Off the Shelf Farm, The Farm New Marlborough |
| Seafood | Svenfish |
| Honey, maple and jams | Bash Bish Honey, Justamere Tree Farm, les collines |
| Hot food and drinks | Best Damn Espresso for coffee and crepes, Naji's Mediterranean Cuisine for prepared foods, The Farm New Marlborough on the grill |
| Pantry and body care | Rolling Rock Farm for salts and spices, Gray Raven Farm for soaps and lotions |
| Crafts | JK Custom Furniture Design for wood craft, The Peach Tree for jewelry, Lila's Mountain Farm for woolen items |
That April market also had live music by Luke Deroy. With seafood, dairy, eggs, bread and a hot crepe in one room, the Housy Dome covers most of a grocery run. That matters when the next market is four weeks away.
On the Saturdays without a market, the Mahaiwe's calendar takes over. From the last Church Street market to the December winter market, the 2026 schedule lines up like this:
| Saturday | Morning market | At the Mahaiwe |
|---|---|---|
| November 14 | Last Church Street market, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. | Cowboy Junkies |
| November 21 | Housy Dome winter market, 10 a.m.–1 p.m. | — |
| November 28 | — | The Wizard of Oz, the annual Thanksgiving-weekend screening |
| December 5 | — | Aoife O'Donovan and Chris Thile |
| December 12 | — | Free Olaf's Frozen Adventure loop, Indigo Room, 4–7 p.m. |
| December 19 | Housy Dome winter market, 10 a.m.–1 p.m. | John Pizzarelli |
The table shows how the season divides. November 21 is a market Saturday. The three Saturdays after it are Mahaiwe Saturdays. December 19 is the only date that has both, so a morning in Housatonic and an evening at the Mahaiwe can share the same day.
Fridays add a few more options. Samantha Bee brings How to Survive Menopause to the Mahaiwe on Friday, November 13, the night before the last Church Street market. It's a Wonderful Life screens on Friday, December 18, the night before the December winter market. Closer at hand, Jeff Tweedy plays with special guest Case Oats on Friday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m. The next night, Halloween, the Mahaiwe hosts a free screening of La Pena Máxima 2 at 7 p.m.
The one December Saturday built around downtown itself is the 12th. The Mahaiwe has scheduled its free Olaf's Frozen Adventure loop in the Indigo Room from 4 to 7 p.m. "in conjunction with Great Barrington's Holiday Shop, Sip & Stroll." That pairing puts the stroll on Saturday, December 12 this year.
The Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce has organized the stroll in past years. Last December, The Berkshire Edge described it as a downtown evening of holiday shopping and entertainment. This year's hours and program will come from the organizer, so check the Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce for the 2026 schedule as the date gets closer. A three-hour cartoon loop that starts at 4 p.m. suggests the Mahaiwe expects families to be downtown in the late afternoon and early evening.
There may be another reason to plan around that weekend. OnTheSnow lists a projected opening of December 11 for Ski Butternut's 2026–27 season. The site warns that projected dates are not official and may change. If that date holds, Butternut's first weekend of the season and the downtown stroll would fall on the same weekend. Check Butternut's own announcements before you wax the skis.
The calendar comes together on the Saturday before Christmas week. A day built only from confirmed listings might look like this:
If you would rather start the weekend a night early, It's a Wonderful Life screens at the Mahaiwe on Friday the 18th. Then on Thursday, December 31, the Berkshire Bach Society presents Bach at New Year's: A Joyful Noise at the Mahaiwe to close out the year.
The monthly schedule continues after the holidays. The winter market returns to the Housy Dome on January 16, February 20, March 20 and April 17, 2027, always on the third Saturday of the month. Berkshire Grown has 2026–27 vendor applications open now, so the roster could look different from the April list by the time the Dome fills in November. The Mahaiwe's events calendar already runs into April 2027 for anyone planning the colder months.
